Last night, Sara and I went to target around 9 o clock. The store was crowded, but much less crowded then it would have been during the day. Anyways, when we arrived, we saw people camping outside along the side of the building. Upon closer inspection, we saw a sign that said something about "the line for Nintendo Wii starting here." It seems as though these people were going to wait overnight in the cold for the Nintendo Wii.
I got to thinking. There is a lot of hype around the three new "Next Gen" consoles...The Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3, and the XBox 360. SO much in fact that people would sleep outside in the very cold for a night just for a chance to buy one of the two brand new ones. It's a little bit like how people were chomping at the bit for December 1st for The New Nateshots to arrive. Same thing with the new CurranStat, and soon to be released new Lets-Krong!
In Fact, three new websites, three new video game consoles....how are else are they similiar?
Lets Start with the New Nateshots
Easily the most anticipated of the 3 new websites, NateShots also has the technological edge. Look at all that flash! Also, with Nate's trips all over the nation, he's going to have the most media in order to update. As for the consoles...PlayStation 3 has the best technology of the three and it'll have the most delvelopers making games.
Next, Letskrong.com
LetsKrong is still in it's teaser stage, but already it's user friendly interface and multimedia advances are showing their presence. While it definitly has the technology to compete with Nateshots, LetsKrong will have plenty of other things on it's plate as Jake is a full time grad student, just as Microsoft can compete with Sony but could get distracted with plenty of it's other endevors. That is why...

CurranStat.com
CurranStat is developed using the microsoft office live webtemplate, so it's the most limited technologically speaking of the three websites. Also, since I lead a very boring life here, I don't have as many things to write about. This makes CurranStat most similiar to The Nintendo Wii. The Wii is the least advanced of the three new consoles and with not as many developers making games for it, Nintendo tries to focus on quality games that the fans will enjoy, just as I try and focus on fan favorite articles.

Now obviously there are plenty of differences. For one thing, despite what Xav thinks, the competition between the websites is friendly and the competition between the consoles is heated. Also, for the three of us the websites are hobbies, and the video game companies it's a matter of millions of dollars.
Then again, if people slept outside waiting the next curranstat update, I certainly wouldn't hate it!
